Selim:
Did you see the debate on bill C-14 this morning. Like a breath of fresh air. The NDP were very level headed and considerate. The Conservative (Jay Hill) was very respectfull. He even complemented the previous Liberal Government. This is the way it should work.
When they went on to Bill C-278 the Liberal from NFLD went right back to the mischevious, partison rhetoric. The bill proposes that the unemployment fund pay for illness and quarantine. The bill is well meaning but it attempts to use funds from the UI fund which is inappropriate. No research was don on this bill. The Liberals are just trying to grab headlines.

Some of the young Conservatives in the house of commons are quit impressive. They have a lot to learn but they are having just as much fun as the Liberals when it comes to disrupting the opposition and making them look bad. After a while they will both discover that it is more effective to compromise and be realistic. At the moment the Conservatives are fighting fire with fire.
I find the attacks on the Minister of Defence very trivial. When you consider the responsibility on his sholders, alleged roughing up of prosoners and confussion over who is to pay for the rental of an arena are very trivial. He doesn't often look good, but he gets the job done. Open government brings out flaws. It is only a serious when the flaws are not corrected. I person who is always politically correct would not be a good defence miniter. Look at Windston Chirchill.
